HARRISBURG - In February, Gov. Tom Wolf reintroduced his proposal to spend $2,000 in checks for low-income families. The proposal, originally introduced in February, was rejected by Republicans during the budget process after being funded by $2 billion in federal ARPA funds. The new proposal would send these checks directly to people who qualify. In addition, it would help people in need who are currently suffering from poverty or other financial hardships.

The virus spreads through prolonged skin-to-skin contact and is particularly prevalent among men who have sex. The virus is not contagious among people with strong immune systems. However, it can affect anyone, including healthcare workers and pregnant women.

PHILADELPHIA - A high school reunion in Philadelphia is disrupted after a tree falls onto people. The tree landed in the section of the food court reserved for the reunion. According to the Philadelphia Fire Department, eight people were transported to area hospitals. The incident occurred during the annual celebration for West Philadelphia High School graduates. The Philadelphia Fire Department confirmed that the incident had no serious injuries.

Philly area native and Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts alum Kurt Rosenwinkel kicks off the season as he returns to his roots to help the legendary venue celebrate this milestone on Friday and Saturday, September 16 & 17. The international jazz guitarist takes the stage with a quartet featuring Aaron Parks (piano), Eric Revis (bass), and Gregory Hutchinson (drums).
