Philadelphia, PA – May 3, 2024 – Philadelphia Zoo is thrilled to announce a significant addition to its growing family: 11-year-old female western lowland gorilla Patty. Following an extensive journey from her birthplace in Chicago, Patty arrived at the Zoo on an Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Species Survival Plan (SSP) breeding recommendation. She will join the Zoo's silverback, Motuba, with the hope of creating a future generation of critically endangered western lowland gorillas.
