PHILADEPHIA - A 39-year-old man was pronounced dead at Temple Hospital after a Philadelphia police officer shot and killed the suspect who ran from officers in the city's Kensington section.
The man was driving a Red Mustang on B street Thursday afternoon somewhere around 11:30 PM. During their pursuit, officers spotted a gun as the man fled off. This led to a police chase, which ended with the vehicle crashing at Ruth and Somerset.
When officers caught up with the man two blocks away at Jasper and Heat streets. The officers approached the man on foot when gunfire erupted between the officers and the suspect.
The suspect was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The two officers involved in the shooting were not reported to be injured.
The investigation is ongoing, and the gun was recovered from the scene. No further information is available at this time.
