PHILADELPHIA, PA -The Philadelphia Eagles had a great opportunity to move into the playoff picture against the Giants, and they dropped the ball.
In a disappointing 13-7 loss, the Eagles offense looked sloppier than they ever have this season, with three Jalen Hurts interceptions and a crucial Boston Scott fumble late in the game. The turnovers were the difference in the game, as the Giants didn’t do a lot offensively, but they did lead in time of possession and didn’t turn the football over once.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Jets Prediction
The good news for Philly is that they do have the easiest schedule in the league moving forward. The Eagles won’t even have to leave the Meadowlands, as they will take on the New York Jets.
The Jets are undergoing another rebuild with rookie quarterback Zach Wilson. They did pick up their third win of the season against Houston last week, but that game wasn’t a thing of beauty for Wilson and the Jets offense. It was their defense that shut out the Texans in the second half and propelled them to victory.
On paper, this game should be a comfortable win for the Eagles, but in the NFL this season, nothing has been predictable. If the Birds turn the ball over four times again, there’s a good chance they’re losing the game. Look for Jalen Hurts to play much smarter with the football and look for Nick Sirianni to call a much more run-focused offense.
Defensively, the Eagles had nothing to be ashamed of last week after allowing just 13 points. They have to remain focused, though, especially against the run. New York had 157 total rushing yards between the dual-threat Wilson, Tevin Coleman, and Ty Johnson. All these players have good speed and quickness, so the Eagles need to just play their assignments and rally to the ball.
I think Philly will bounce back against the Jets, but I expect the game to be closer than some expect.
Final score: Eagles, 28. Jets, 21.
