PHILADELPHIA - According to recent reports from NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the Philadelphia Eagles have named Joe Milton their starting quarterback for their Week 9 matchup against the New York Giants on Sunday, November 8, 2026.
This move comes after three consecutive losses with Tanner McKee at the helm. McKee took over the starting role after the Eagles placed Jalen Hurts on injured reserve in mid-October due to blood clots in his lungs, but he managed an 0-3 record during his stint as the starter. The Eagles, currently 2-6 and at the bottom of the NFC East, are switching to Milton in hopes of sparking their struggling offense.
The Eagles recently acquired Milton by signing him off the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad on October 16, 2026. In this upcoming game against the Giants, Milton will make his NFL debut. Since being drafted by the New England Patriots in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Tennessee, the 26-year-old quarterback has appeared in five NFL games in a backup capacity. In those five appearances, he completed 37 of 53 passes (69.8%) for 424 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.
