Camden, NJ – The excitement is building for the third Downtown Camden Art Crawl on Thursday, June 12, 2025, and the Camden Special Services District (CSSD) has offered an early glimpse into the talented artists and engaging experiences awaiting attendees. From 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, the streets of Downtown Camden will come alive with creativity as over 30 local artists and makers showcase their work in collaboration with businesses along Market Street (between 2nd and 4th streets).
This year’s event promises a diverse array of artistic mediums and styles. Visitors can look forward to:
- Mixed Media Marvels: Ernest Ford, a painter from North Camden, will exhibit his powerful mixed-media pieces crafted from reclaimed materials, sharing the stories behind his art.
- Sustainable Design & Literature: Terina Nicole Hill, founder of Jypsea Leathergoods, will showcase her sustainable fashion and home accessories alongside a live demo and reading from her published work.
- Spiritual & Cultural Narratives: Felicia Biles, a painter and muralist, will present her vibrant art rooted in spirituality and the Black feminine experience, offering live illustration and a collaborative mural opportunity.
- Adornments with Meaning: Jewelry designer and sculptor Kiona Golden-Moton will display her African-inspired handcrafted jewelry and host a charm-making workshop.
- Emotional Journeys on Canvas: Self-taught visual artist Jemel Balkman will host a pop-up gallery, sharing the healing narratives behind his bold and colorful mixed-media works.
- Capturing Camden's Essence: Photographer Samantha Benvissuto will exhibit a photo essay exploring Camden’s layered histories and offer on-site portrait sessions.
- Explorations of Identity: Loan Nguyen, a Vietnamese-American artist, will create a live painting inspired by conversations about identity and belonging.
- Dreamlike Analog Photography: Experimental photographer Anthony Cole will exhibit his analog photographs and demonstrate his film development process.
- Healing Through Art & Poetry: Multidisciplinary artist Migdalia Olavarria will present an interactive altar installation and guide poetic meditation.
- Wearable Art & Upcycling Fun: Priscilla Rios (ExternalFreedom) will showcase her playful wearable art and lead a drop-in accessory design station using upcycled materials.
- Figurative Storytelling: Fine artist and educator De’von Downes will share his Caribbean-inspired figurative oil paintings and lead a discussion on cultural storytelling.
- Connecting Through Portraiture: Richard Timbers will set up his unique "THE CHAIR" project, inviting passersby for impromptu portraits.
- 10-Minute Portraits Live: Painter, printmaker, and photographer Donald T. Williams will offer his signature quick portraits to attendees.
In addition to these featured artists, a full list of participating creatives will be announced closer to the event. Food truck vendors Ron Do’s Food Truck and Taqueria Lopez will be on hand to satisfy appetites. Local businesses including Mylestone Catering, Essential Blends Hair Studio, Iron Lion Karate, and A Little Slice of New York will also be offering special deals and features.
