PHILADELPHIA - Super Loa, a CBD dispensary located in Bala Cynwyd, PA, is preparing to open its second location – this one inside of ShopRite of Warminster, located at 942 W. Street Road. The new outpost will open on Monday, July 11th at 11 a.m. with a special giveaway, as Owner Tamara Ali Bey will give the first 100 customers through the door a complimentary CBD Relax and Calm gummy and an HHC (Hexahydrocannabinol) gummy with any purchase.
After being in business for less than a year following her November 2021 opening, Ali Bey is already looking to expand, thanks to an extremely receptive market that helped to bring her first location serious success on the Main Line.
“I was interested in getting into the dispensary business, but I decided that getting into CBD would be less red tape and a more financially sound investment,” said the 44-year-old Ali Bey, who ran her own accounting firm in the city prior to this venture. “Many people still don’t understand what CBD is, but I love educating people and seeing this market grow exponentially every single week. Once PA opens up adult recreational use, I’ll likely jump into the cannabis segment as well. For now, I’m just really excited to open in another community and meet new customers seeking pain management and relaxation supplements.”
CBD is a chemical found in marijuana. CBD doesn't contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive ingredient found in marijuana that produces a high. The most popular CBD formulation is oil, but CBD is also sold as an extract, a vaporized liquid, and an oil-based capsule.
Ali Bey said that one thing that separates her shop from the other growing number of CBD and cannabis shops is that Super Loa also carries items catered to women. “In addition to all-organic, all-natural, all-vegan options, we also have products for menstrual relief, women’s health, general pain relief, and intimacy. We cater to women in a way many other stores cannot. Additionally, I believe that the knowledge and friendliness of our staff is what really sets us apart.”
The new shop will offer pickup orders, but no delivery. Customers do not need a state-issued medical marijuana card to purchase any of Super Loa’s products, as any adult 18-and-over can walk in and make purchases, except for Delta 8 and Delta 9 products, which customers need to be 21+ to purchase. As for the location itself, Ali Bey said “Warminster picked me.”
“Our goal at ShopRite is to care deeply about people and help them to eat well and be happy, so I am beyond excited to introduce Super Loa to our community,” said ShopRite of Warminster owner Deborah Cowhey. “This addition to our supermarket fits perfectly with our purpose, and it provides our customers with a better-than-ever shopping experience in our store.”
Super Loa also carries Delta-8 products, including tinctures, gummies, and vaporizers. Delta-8 THC is a psychoactive compound that’s pretty similar to Delta-9 THC, a compound in the cannabis plant that produces a “high.” Though the two products are similar, Delta-8 has a slightly different chemical structure that makes it a lot less potent.
Ali Bey said that long-term, she is looking to expand the number of locations for Super Loa, but she loves the idea of being in a ShopRite with a serious focus on the community. As for the future of the industry, Ali Bey said she’s going to continue to educate people on the alternative remedies that her shop can offer.
“It’s the best feeling to hear people say that our products worked, and then to see repeat customers,” she said. “Word-of-mouth is the best. This is a new light coming to Warminster, and I’m passionate about it. People need knowledge, and I’m super excited to help.”
