PHILADELPHIA – Commuters on several SEPTA Regional Rail lines are facing a difficult commute this Monday, as the transit agency has canceled numerous trains due to ongoing safety inspections of its Silverliner IV fleet.
The cancellations, which affect the Airport, Fox Chase, and Chestnut Hill West lines, were announced in an effort to "provide more reliable service for the Monday morning commute" as SEPTA deals with a shortage of available train cars.
The inspections are part of a federally mandated safety check of the aging Silverliner IV cars, which make up a significant portion of the Regional Rail fleet.
