PHILADELPHIA - Chef Kevin Watters of The Dutch in Philadelphia is bringing back his popular Mom Mom's Soul Food Pop-Up for one night only on Monday, February 19, in celebration of Black History Month. The event will feature a multi-course sit-down dinner, with a portion of the proceeds going to the local BIPOC-owned charity, Everybody Eats.
The dinner will pay homage to Watters' late grandmother, Lillian Lewis, who was affectionately known as "everybody's Mom-Mom" in her community. Reservations are encouraged for the two seatings at 6PM and 8PM, priced at $75 per person.
The soul food menu will include roasted garlic deviled eggs, pan-seared Cajun shrimp, mac & cheese cornbread, braised short ribs with creamy cheese sauce, buttermilk fried chicken, collard greens with turkey, oven-roasted candied yams, and a banana pudding parfait with a shortbread cookie and whipped cream for dessert.
Watters and The Dutch will be donating a percentage of sales to Everybody Eats, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting hunger in the community.
