PENN STATE - Penn State Extension is pleased to announce the addition of Kasey Hower to their dynamic dairy team as the newly appointed dairy educator in Berks County. Hower's deep-rooted connection to farming and her extensive experience in the dairy industry make her an exceptional fit for this role. Coming from a farming background, she has dedicated her entire life to the field, demonstrating her passion and commitment.


Hower's impressive resume highlights her involvement in 4-H, where she actively participated and excelled in competitions at various levels. Her undergraduate and graduate degrees in animal science from the renowned University of Delaware further solidify her expertise in the field. During her master's program, she had the privilege of working alongside the esteemed Professor Limin Kung, conducting research on corn hybrids and the implementation of silage additives. This hands-on experience with advanced agricultural techniques underscores her familiarity with cutting-edge practices.

Furthermore, Hower has previously had a valuable role with Penn State Extension, serving as a 4-H program assistant in Schuylkill County. Her time there allowed her to gain valuable insights into the industry while working closely with local farmers and producers. In addition, Hower's experience selling liquid feeds to dairy and beef operations across Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New York has given her invaluable knowledge of the challenges and opportunities that exist within the region.

Returning to the esteemed extension team, Hower is excited about the prospect of collaborating with local dairy producers to enhance their feeding programs and optimize the quality of their forages. With her strong background, passion for the dairy industry, and broad range of experiences, Hower is well-equipped to provide valuable guidance and support to the dairy community in Berks County.
