PHILADELPHIA - You're in luck if you're looking for a new studio or podcasting headphones for 2023. Here we look at some of the best options on the market today. Some of our top picks include the Sony MDR-7506, Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO, and Beats Studio 3.

Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO

The Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO studio headphones are cult favorites in the recording industry. They have a neutral sound profile that accurately reproduces vocals and lead instruments. Sibilants are bright and piercing, however. They also have mediocre consistency. They show six dB of variance at 30Hz. Their cable length is also only 10 feet.

The Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO studio headphones have a closed-back design, similar to the DT 990 Pro, with circular ear cups. They also have a thick metal frame and a removable cushion strap. The headphones are comfortable to wear but may be too tight for those who wear glasses or have sensitive ears. However, they do offer decent passive noise isolation.

The bass response is excellent, with extended bass and good high bass. The treble is fairly balanced, with only a few slight under-emphasis in the high-frequency range. However, the low-treble does show a slight dip at 3.5KHz, which is not too pronounced. Because the low treble is narrow and unnoticeable, whereas the high treble is overemphasized by 2.5dB.

Sony MDR-7506

The Sony MDR-7506 is a great studio and podcasting headphones set, but its design isn't modern. The packaging is utilitarian, vinyl and plastic and has unnecessary text. It is marketed as a set of "dynamic stereo headphones," but the product looks almost identical to the MDR-V6 model from 1985. Inside the box is a silver satin-lined case containing the headphones and an adapter for 3.5mm to 1/4-inch jacks.

The MDR-7506 has been a trusted companion of audio professionals since the early 1990s. Though it doesn't have the flashiest design, it sounds great and is affordable. The headband fits most head sizes comfortably. And despite the small size, the headphones won't squeak or put any pressure on your ears.

Beats Studio 3

The Beats Studio 3 headphones have a wireless design and work with both Apple and Android devices. They offer 22 hours of wireless playback, with the ability to switch off ANC. Additionally, they have fast charging capabilities. They also have an Apple W1 chip, which can connect to Apple devices more easily.

The Studio 3 headphones feature Beats' new Pure ANC technology, which actively blocks external noise. This technology constantly monitors your surroundings and responds accordingly, so you can hear your music in the best possible quality. This technology is also compatible with the Apple AirPods, which makes pairing with the headphones very convenient.

If you plan on recording audio while walking or using public transport, the Beats Studio 3 headphones also come with an Ambient Sound mode that improves audio quality. This mode makes quiet sounds more audible and helps you hear people better.

Superlux HD 681

If you want to get the best sound quality out of your audio recording, the Superlux HD 681 studio and podcasting headphones may be a great choice.  These headphones feature a premium audio component design and offer a full range frequency response (10 Hz - 30 kHz) with smooth high frequencies. They are great for studio work and are suitable for extended listening sessions.

These headphones come with a three-meter cable and are ideal for podcasting and studio recording. They have a durable headband and come with two types of detachable coiled cables. The sound quality of this headphone is good, with crisp vocals and deep bass. The only drawback is that the highs are loud and may give you a headache. However, the HD 681's other strengths outweigh these negatives.
