PHILADELPHIA - Tiny Room For Elephants is a creative network that builds unique experiences for artists, brands, and consumers utilizing various artistic mediums. It is back for its 5th festival. They're back for the second time at the Cherry Street Pier from July 5, 2022, through July 24, 2022. The festival has grown immensely since its first installation in 2014.
Tiny Room For Elephants Festival Is Back for the 5th Year.
It started with nine artists, eight musical performances, and 50 people attending a warehouse in North Philadelphia. In 2019, it grew to 37 artists, 30 musical performances, and around 13,000 people attending Cherry Street Pier. Due to the pandemic, there has not been a TRFE Festival for the past two years, so they're ready to be back and bigger than ever.
The Festival That Fuses Art and Music is Taking Over Cherry Street Pier This July
The festival was founded to allow creatives to let their imaginations run freely. Generally, artists are restricted by guardrails placed when doing commissioned work. Still, at TRFE Festival, they can let their creativity take over. At its core, Tiny Room For Elephants Festival is a multi-day living art gallery that incorporates styles and mediums of visual artists and musicians. TRFE invites artists to paint and install collectively, in the same space over 10 days, to a live soundtrack curated by the city's most talented DJs and Producers. After painting/installations are complete, TRFE celebrates the works with live music, DJs, producers, panel discussions, and interactive elements over four days. Each moment is documented from construction to the final festival day to preserve the moments and shared via social channels.
"You can expect to see graffiti art, performance art, fiber art, abstract art, sticker art, NFTs, installations, and art you've never seen before. That's the beauty of Tiny Room; you never know what will pop up! " says Tiny Room For Elephants co-founder YaYa Horne. "The city's best DJs and producers will be there making music for everyone to experience," says Tiny Room For Elephants co-founder Damion Ward.
Attendees of the Tiny Room For Elephants Festival can expect a weekend jam-packed with brand activations, performance art, dancing, and music from Philly's most talented performers. All the events are free, but VIP tickets will be available for sale for select festival experiences starting in June. The community is also welcome to come to witness the gallery's construction throughout July. Except for one day, the pier is open to the public from start to finish.
