PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia Flyers forward Kevin Hayes has been traded to St. Louis Blues for a sixth-round draft pick in 2024.  Hayes, 31, had his best point-producing season in 2022-2023 with the Flyers. He scored 18 goals and collected 54 points across 81 games.

As part of this trade, the Flyers will retain 50 percent of Hayes’ $ 7.14 million salary for the next three-year period.

The deal struck on Tuesday comes just days after another trade, which would have brought Hayes to St. Louis and sent other pieces there as well to the Blues, fell through because Torey Krug refused to waive his no-trade clause.

Hayes has entered the fifth year on a seven-year contract worth $50 million that he signed in 2019 with the Flyers—drafted initially 24th by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2010. He has played 634 games for the New York Rangers and Flyers.
