After three decades, legendary Philadelphia television anchor Jim Gardner is retiring from the Action News. While the newscasts have shifted to a more news-oriented format, Gardner will continue to anchor the 6 p.m. edition of Action News until the end of 2022.
The show was created by Jim Gardner, and he has been anchoring it for over 25 years. He currently co-anchors Action News at 5 p.m. on PHL 17 and hosts the popular Action News Mornings program at 6 p.m. He has also worked at WRAL-TV in Raleigh and at WNET in Washington, D.C., where he earned his degree in broadcasting.
