PHILADELPHIA -The Betsy Ross House and American Heritage Chocolate have partnered to bring a colonial chocolate recipe to life. The chocolatier CJ Cheyne, owner of Oui Pastries, has created a special bar using figs that were popular during the 18th century. He is creating the dessert to sell in his shop at 160 North 3rd Street. Visitors will be able to sample the chocolate and receive a recipe card.
Betsy Ross, herself, visited Oui Pastries today to get a taste of this modern dessert using an ingredient from her times and to meet Chef CJ, who is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and previously worked at the renowned Daniel in New York City and the Four Seasons Vancouver.

The Betsy Ross House is located on Arch Street in the Old City of Philadelphia, near Christ Church and Elfreth's Alley. This historic property has been open to the public since 1898. The first American flag was sewn in Betsy's home. The house was once closed to the public but reopened to the public in the 1930s after it underwent a major renovation.
