PHILADEPHIA, PA - New construction on the Knitting, the Network Project, was announced by Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams. Work is scheduled for daytime hours, weather permitting, and may include single-lane closures.


 

The streets included within the scope of work are:

  • Race Street, 8th Street to 6th Street – parking-protected bike lane  
  • Torresdale Avenue, at the Pennypack Creek Trail – protected bike lanes
  • North 13th Street, Spring Garden Street to Green Street – paint a buffered bike lane  
  • North 15th Street, Lehigh Avenue to Girard Avenue – green-backed shadows and edge lines  

The Knitting, the Network Project, is the final portion of a multi-year grant. The construction value for this portion is approximately $500,000.

It is funded by a PA Department of Community and Economic Development Multimodal Transportation Fund grant and Automated Red Light (ARLE) funds.

Construction of the entire project is expected to be completed by early summer 2021. Work will be performed by Seravalli Construction and Ramos Construction, both of Philadelphia.
