Vega served as an assistant prosecutor in Philadelphia under various administrations, working on hundreds of homicide cases.

Vega was also one of the 31 prosecutors fired from the Philadelphia D.A.'s office shortly after Krasner took office in 2018 and replaced the prosecutors, hand-picked by the Krasner's administration.

Before elected D.A. in 2017 Krasner, served as a criminal defense and civil rights attorney in Philadelphia before he was elected to the job of District Attorney.

Four years ago by billionaire George Soros pumped nearly $1.5 million in the cities district attorney race backing Krasner, looking to influence local DA's races across the county in the name of criminal justice reform.

And Krasner did not disappoint his progressive supporters. He led an overhaul of Philadelphia's cash bail system, supported decriminalization of certain minor crimes, and has vigorously pushed for policing reforms.

In Today's election, Krasner faced re-election against former assistant district attorney Carlos Vega, who ran against Krasner's inability to keep Philadelphians safe. Saying, "Larry Krasner promised us the justice that would make us safer."

Krasner's win in the election primary means he is highly likely to win the election later this year, as the city historically votes Democratic.
