PHILADELPHIA, PA. - James Beard Award-Winning/Iron Chef Jose Garces and pizza guru Steven Seibel are collaborating this summer to debut Hook & Master. A Chicago Tavern-style pizzeria complemented by tiki drinks, craft beer, and small antipasti-style dishes.

Jose Garces & Steven Seibel Announce Hook & Master

Chef Garces, a Chicago native himself, has always dreamed of opening a Chicago-style pizza concept, discovering Steven Seibel and the former Liquid Room space at just the right time. At 2nd & Master Streets in Kensington, Hook & Master will seat 80 outside “Octopus’ Garden,” 25 in the downstairs eatery, and 45 upstairs in the Tiki Lounge.

Guests can expect three different types of pies

  • Chicago Tavern Style super-thin crust the way the locals do it in Chi-Town
  • Pan-Style pizza more of a Chicago deep-dish
  • 8 different Brooklyn-style ‘za’s by pizza king Steven Seibel.

Most importantly, Hook & Master will open with a takeout window where those who remain COVID-cautious can not only order Hook & Master ready-to-eat takeout but also order take-and-bake uncooked tavern-style pizza dough that can be thrown into the oven at home.

The nautical-style restaurant was designed by Bridget McMullin and The McMullin Design Group to evoke a dark & moody, “under the sea” vibe alongside Chicago-themed memorabilia, a signature tin ceiling, and plenty of Octopus décor to go around.
