PHILADELPHIA — Two people are in custody after a 31-year-old food delivery driver was shot during a confrontation in Philadelphia's Northern Liberties neighborhood late Tuesday night.


According to the Philadelphia Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting near the intersection of 6th and Spring Garden streets around 11:30 PM. Investigators say the delivery driver became involved in a verbal altercation with a man and a woman while preparing to make a delivery.

During the confrontation, the driver was struck in the back of the head with an unknown object. As he retreated to his vehicle, the man allegedly fired a handgun toward him, striking the victim in the left hand.

Medics transported the driver to Jefferson Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

Police confirmed that both the man and woman involved in the altercation were taken into custody at the scene, with charges currently pending. Their identities have not yet been released, and it remains unclear what prompted the initial argument.
