PHILADEPHIA - Every neighborhood has residents who want to become more involved but aren’t sure how. Citizens Planning Institute (CPI) helps them take that next step.
Since 2010, CPI has trained more than 600 residents from more than 130 neighborhoods to take a more active role in issues facing their community. Now CPI is looking for the next 30 citizen planners.
CPI is accepting applications through March 19 online at www.citizensplanninginstitute.org
CPI teaches Philadelphians about city planning, zoning, and development so they can create positive change in their neighborhoods. Classes are Wednesdays 6-8 p.m. from April 7 – May 26 online through zoom.
“CPI is for anyone who wants to make a difference in their community,” said Donna Carney, program director. “It gives people the tools, resources, and connections to get things done in their neighborhood.”
Participants learn from leaders in the fields of planning, development, and community organizing. They also connect with the growing network of Citizen Planners across the City who are working on many of the same issues.
