PHILADELPHIA - While craft beer fans gear up for the two giant Oktoberfest celebrations and family-friendly Philly Oktoberfest events arriving this September, Evil Genius Beer Company is expanding far past traditional beer hall festivities. The Front Street brewery is shifting into high gear as an entertainment destination this fall, pairing seasonal drafts with an ambitious lineup of culinary gauntlets, massive street festivals, and pop-culture events stretching through October.
The "Hop Ones" Wing Challenge (Friday, October 2)
For diners who crave heat with their hops, Evil Genius hosts its high-stakes wing challenge from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. For $35, brave participants receive a flight of 10 wings (with a vegetarian option available) coated in progressively hotter sauces taken directly from the hit digital show Hot Ones. Guests tackle trivia questions that increase in difficulty and heat, culminating in Heatonist's The Last Dab Thermageddon—a sauce packing heat from Pepper X, Apollo, Carolina Reaper, and Scorpion peppers. Spectator tickets are available for those who prefer to watch the fireworks from a safe distance with a pint in hand.
Evil Genius 15th Annual Music Festival (Saturday, October 3)
Poised to be the largest single-day event of the season in the Riverwards, Evil Genius expands into the street for an 11-hour block party running from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The festival will feature more than 100 local makers and vendors, outdoor restaurant stands, tap stations, and a continuous lineup of live bands performing from noon until closing time.
