LANCASTER, PA — The Manheim Township Police Department (MTPD) is asking the public for help identifying a suspect in the brazen theft of an e-bike belonging to a 9-year-old child. The incident occurred at the Target located at 1589 Fruitville Pike.
According to police, the suspect initially approached the juvenile owner in the store's parking lot and asked to take the e-bike for a "test ride." To gain the child's trust, the suspect left a phone and a wallet as collateral and returned the bike shortly after.
However, store surveillance cameras later captured the suspect returning to the store's vestibule and taking the e-bike while the young owner and their friends were inside. After taking the bike, the suspect was last seen leaving the area and heading toward Dick's Sporting Goods.
The suspect is described as wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, and a red Coca-Cola baseball hat.
MTPD is actively investigating the incident and urging anyone who recognizes the individual from the surveillance footage to come forward to help solve this crime.
