PHILADELPHIA – The former director of the Philadelphia Art Museum, Sasha Suda, filed a lawsuit against the institution on Monday, claiming her abrupt dismissal last week was unlawful.

Suda, who was abruptly fired from her leadership role, is now challenging the circumstances of her removal. Her ousting reportedly came after the museum's board initiated an investigation conducted by an external law firm.

While the specific substance of that investigation is not publicly known, Suda's legal team is forcefully pushing back. Her attorney has characterized the probe as a "sham investigation," asserting that it was used as a "pretext" for her "unlawful" firing.

The lawsuit, filed today, marks a significant escalation in the dispute between the prominent museum and its recently terminated chief.
