PHILADELPHIA, PA (May 29, 2025) – Lacroix, the signature restaurant at The Rittenhouse, has not only refreshed its culinary approach but has also unveiled a bold new beverage program, expertly crafted in partnership with Philadelphia's acclaimed mixologist Danny Childs. Childs, a James Beard Award winner and founder of the Slow Drinks Movement, brings his "farm-to-glass" philosophy to Lacroix, creating a cocktail menu deeply rooted in botanicals, foraged flavors, and Philadelphia's rich heritage.
Debuting May 28th, the revitalized cocktail program aims to strike a harmonious balance between terroir and technique, with each selection telling a story. "Working with Lacroix gave me the creative opportunity to reinterpret French drinking traditions in a way that fits with its next chapter,” said Childs. “Our botanically focused menu takes inspiration from ancient alcoholic preserves in the French countryside through Paris' storied history as a global cocktail hub and reinterprets it in a way that is modern and unique with a Philadelphian twist."
Highlights of the new cocktail menu include:
- The Old Square: A Philadelphia-inspired interpretation of the classic Vieux Carré, featuring Rittenhouse Rye, armagnac, sweet vermouth, Benedictine, Peychaud’s, and angostura bitters.
- Fish House Punch: A nod to what is possibly America's oldest cocktail, thought to have originated in Philadelphia in the mid-1700s. The Rittenhouse’s version showcases apple brandy, Jamaican rum, English tea, lemon oleo-saccharum, and spices.
- House Martinis: A collection celebrating both tradition and innovation. The "Classic" features French Gin and Dolin Dry vermouth, while the "Dirty” offers a savory twist with Noilly Prat and cornichon brine. The unique “Espresso Du Monde” draws inspiration from chicory coffee traditions, combining cognac, local chicory, demerara, espresso, and ChinaChina. Modern interpretations include the “Clarified” martini (Planteray Pineapple rum, raspberry, lime, Sauternes) and a “Vesper” with French vodka, Bluecoat gin, and Kina D’Or.
This inventive beverage program promises to appeal to both cocktail connoisseurs and the casually curious, perfectly complementing Lacroix's refreshed culinary direction.
