Philadelphia, PA - The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) is addressing a technical issue affecting student, senior, paratransit, and reduced fare cards. An incorrect expiration date was encoded on these SEPTA Key cards, causing them to be declined at fare readers on subways, buses, and Regional Rail trains.

The glitch does not affect alternative payment methods such as standard SEPTA Key cards, credit cards, debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

SEPTA has instructed employees to allow riders with affected cards to continue using public transportation. The agency is working with the card manufacturer to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
