VILLANOVA, PA - The conflict in Gaza reverberated across the Villanova University campus on April 30th, as Villanova Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) mobilized a powerful demonstration in solidarity with Palestine.

Approximately 100 students and staff members dressed in black marched and chanted, demanding an end to the devastating violence in the Gaza Strip. Villanova's protest echoes similar actions at Swarthmore and Haverford Colleges, reflecting a growing wave of student activism across the region.

Students feel a strong sense of responsibility to use their voices for peace, especially when they see the impact of conflict on people from similar backgrounds or cultures. Bailey Proctor-Madden, a junior, expressed this sentiment perfectly:

"We cannot remain silent when injustice occurs, even if it feels distant. Raising awareness and calling for a ceasefire is the least we can do. This isn't just about the headlines; it's about real people suffering, and we are responsible for standing up for what's right."

Villanova supports student expression. In an email, Vice President Byrnes highlighted the importance of peaceful protest and mutual respect.
