PHILADELPHIA - Park Towne Place Museum District Residences (2200 Benjamin Franklin Parkway) presents Taking A Line For A Walk, curated By InLiquid. The artworks are united by a line, which is both a conceptual and formal element. The artwork spans various media, including sculpture, assemblages, paintings, and ceramics. The exhibition will run until October 1.

The exhibit, which takes its inspiration from the quote of Swiss-born German painter Paul Klee who said: "A drawing is just a line walking," features six artists, including Nanci Hersh and Sharon Bloomfield Hicks. Also featured are Taesookjung, Caroline Lathan Stiefel, Kate Stewart Samara Weaver. The exhibit is part of an extensive art program at Park Towne Place, which rotates exhibitions curated by InLiquid. This nonprofit arts organization in Philadelphia's Kensington district is based in Philadelphia.

Mat Tomezsko is the guest curator. "Each artist begins with a material of their choice, whether it be clay, acrylic, plastic or pipe cleaners, and allows the meaning and form to merge and meander, creating something unique and spectacular, while always keeping an eye on the linearity of the composition," he explained. Tomezsko added, "The artwork allows the viewer to trace a line starting from a familiar point and leading to new possibilities."

The public is invited to an Opening Reception on Wednesday, June 28, from 6-8 p.m.. The event is free and will begin at the North Tower Gallery before moving on to the West Tower Gallery and South Tower Gallery. The artists will be giving remarks in each gallery while you enjoy hors-d'oeuvres.

A contemporary mixed-media artist, Nanci Hersh said: "Expressive lines are a constant thread in my work." My paintings have been "talking" to each other in my studio for many years. "To have my paintings in the world, in conversation with five other artists' works that I admire, is a real thrill for me."
