PHILADELPHIA - This Friday, a newly created cultural and community initiative, Germantown Art District (GAD), is being announced at an event held in the historic neighborhood. The new initiative aims to share and highlight Germantown's rich culture and community throughout Philadelphia.

The District has a vibrant arts scene, with galleries and cultural associations showcasing local artists and hosting community events. The GAD believes that Germantown's artistic, educational, and community contributions continue shaping and evolving the city of Philadelphia. That is why GAD will host upcoming Fourth Fridays programs and a new festival this Fall, the Germantown Arts Festival.

GAD will host a series of monthly celebrations at the heart of Germantown. The District will transform the town on the fourth Friday of each month with vendors, live music, and special events sponsored by local businesses. Along the corridor, there will be activities for people of all ages and interests.

This Friday, April 28th, 2023, is Germantown's Launch Party for Fourth Fridays. The Kick-Off will be hosted by Kristen Clark and Steven Taylor of Ubuntu Fine Art Gallery and GAD Board Member, who own Kinesics dance dynamics theatre. The Kick-Off event will be held at 5423 Germantown Ave/5427 Germantown Ave. Guests can look forward to a night of entertainment with DJ Matigeo and Black Canvas.

This Fall, Philadelphians, and their friends can enjoy the Germantown Arts Festival. The festival will celebrate today's artists, thought leaders, and creatives through live performances, exhibitions, and entertainment. Germantown has always had a strong influence on Philadelphia's Arts. This is because, at the AVE, the artists don't simply capture the energy of the time; they are it.
