PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw was injured when her vehicle was struck by an Uber driver just before 3 o'clock Wednesday at 15th and Race streets in Center City, according to police.


Police reported that a 42-year-old male Uber driver ran a red light and struck Outlaw's vehicle, according to police. Outlaw and the officer driving it were taken to the hospital for evaluation; both suffered non-life-threatening injuries from the collision.

At the scene, Outlaw was reported speaking with investigators. A news helicopter camera shot of the scene revealed Outlaw's police SUV was wedged against the front passenger side of another car; its airbags had deployed.
