PHILADELPHIA - Hangry Joe's is rapidly expanding its restaurant network, adding another location in Old City at 300 Market St., the former spot of Mamoun’s Falafel.

 Hangry Joe's Hot Chicken

Hangry Joe's Hot Chicken is a chain restaurant that offers Nashville-style hot chicken at different spice levels (Plain, Mild, Medium, Hot, and Angry Hot). They also offer chicken sandwiches, finger foods, waffle fries, and Korean chicken nuggets.

About the Restaurant

Founded in May 2021, Hangry Joe's is the brainchild of Derek Cha, founder of Sweet Frog Frozen Yogurt, and business partner Mike Kim. They aim to bring a Nashville-style hot chicken sandwich to the fast-casual market.

They offer a limited menu of sandwiches, chicken fingers, chicken & waffles, and Korean chicken nuggets. The chicken is marinated in a special cayenne pepper sauce and then fried to order.

Sides, including a cider slaw, a mound of waffle fries, and fried okra, are also available.

What's Hot

The Hangry Joe’s chicken sandwich, a “Chicken Sando,” is made up of a brioche bun and is topped with a hefty dollop of their housemade hangry sauce and vinegar slaw. The "Sando" is spicy-hot, and the heat levels begin at zero (Plain) up to angry hot, though this requires you to sign a waiver.

If you’re in the area, give them a try! Their chicken is juicy and crispy, and their service is always warm and welcoming.
