PHILADELPHIA, PA  -  The Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation hosted their 6th annual Sandy Sprint Sea Isle City Walk/Run on Saturday, July 23, 2022. With over 475 participants, they raised over $55,000 to help spread awareness of ovarian cancer and funds to advance research.

This is the largest number of participants and the largest fundraising amount the foundation has seen in the six years of the Sandy Sprint Sea Isle City. The foundation has hosted a run/walk in Philadelphia every April for 18 years and counting but more recently has started hosting one at the Jersey shore to inform more people about ovarian cancer.

Ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of death among women in the United States and is the most deadly of the gynecologic cancers. In the United States, over 22,000 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer this year and nearly 14,000 will die. The Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation has raised over $5 million in research grants and has educated millions about ovarian cancer.

“It is so important for women with ovarian cancer and their families to have a place to come together and connect, and that is what the event was all about.”
- Robin Cohen, Co-Founder and CEO of The Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation

The Sandy Sprint Sea Isle City took place at Excursion Park and included a 5K Run, 2-mile Family Fun Walk, Survivor Ceremony, and more.
