PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia Parks & Recreation announced today that the Oval Pop-up Park will return to Eakins Oval along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

The oval pop-up park is an affordable and accessible summer destination.  The Eakins Oval is eight acres at the end of Philadelphia's famous Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

The seven-week pop-up, presented by WSFS Bank, will begin with a Snacktime performance on July 7th and continue through August 20th. The Oval surface-level parking is transformed into an active summer oasis with a schedule of exciting performances, programs, and passive play opportunities.

“The Oval summer pop-up is quickly becoming a must-go destination for anyone looking to enjoy all the ways Philly summers are special,” said Parks & Recreation Interim Commissioner Orlando Rendon. “From breathtaking views down the Parkway to live music and an exciting lineup of local food and drink vendors, the Oval is the perfect spot to get together under the sun and enjoy one of Philadelphia’s most iconic parks.”

Mural Arts Philadelphia creates a dynamic, new ground mural every summer to define the footprint of The Oval Pop-up. Nathaniel Lee created a Benjamin Franklin mural that will be the focal point of this year's activation. The design will feature interactive elements like hopscotch and checkerboards to encourage visitors to interact with the art around them.

The Oval is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from July 7th to August 20th with the following hours:

  • Friday: 2 p.m. – 11 p.m.
  • Saturday: 11 a.m.- 11 p.m.
  • Sunday: 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
