PHILADELPHIA - Nick's Roast Beef, located on Cottman Avenue, has closed its doors.  A beloved local restaurant has decided to close its doors after serving Northeast Philadelphia and the surrounding areas for over 50 years. The establishment will close its doors on Sunday, March 5, 2023.

Matt Rossi, the property owner, ended his lease due to an unfavorable lease agreement. He also noted that rent had risen nearly twice as much.

It's not all bad news, however. Their Cottman Avenue store is closing, but a second Woodhaven Road location will remain open.

Customers tell us that they have been coming here for generations. They relive old memories and say goodbye to former employees. Matthew Rossi, the owner, explained that he made this decision because of "recent changes to the local market."

Nick's Roast Beef has been a landmark of the neighborhood for decades. It is located directly across from Northeast Regional Library, 2210 Cottman Ave. Its roots can be traced back at Nicholas DeSipio’s 1938 beef-and–alley house, which opened its doors.
