PHILADELPHIA (PA) - The 19th Annual Sandy Sprint Philadelphia 5K Run/Walk will be held at the Philadelphia Museum of Art (2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway Philadelphia, PA 19130). The Sandy Sprint is a support group for women battling ovarian cancer. It also honors survivors and raises funds to prevent further complications.

According to the American Cancer Society, 1 in 78 American women will be diagnosed in the United States with ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer can be treated early, which increases the chances of survival. However, most women don't get diagnosed until the disease has advanced. It is hard to diagnose ovarian cancer because symptoms can be subtle and easily misdiagnosed with other diseases. There is also no early detection test. Unfortunately, there is no way to screen for ovarian carcinoma. This makes early diagnosis even more difficult.

This event aims to raise funds for research to make ovarian carcinoma more common in the early stages. It also aims to spread awareness about the foundation's mission to fight for the brave, support those who have lost their battle, and help those working towards eliminating ovarian disease. The SROCF has raised more than $5.8 million through fundraising and events to fight ovarian cancer.

Sandy Sprint will feature the 5K Run/Walk and Survivor Ceremony. Live performances are also included. At a later date, entertainment and special guests will be announced. Participants must register for the 5K before April 22, 2023. Participants are encouraged to set up an online fundraising page to spread the word about Sandy Sprint and help them reach their fundraising goals. For children aged 12 and under, registration fees are $30.
