PHILADELPHIA, PA  - Family comes first at Kutest Kids, which is why they have recently become an affiliate of the Parents as Teachers program. This home-visiting service inspires and supports caregivers and children as they build healthy relationships within their family unit. To kick off the new year, Kutest Kids’ Parents as Teachers (KK PAT) has some exciting events planned for January.

Kutest Kids Early Intervention has grown to encompass several programs and services, Parents as Teachers – a nationally recognized program – being one of them. Sharing a location with Kids at Play, an indoor sensory playground, Kutest Kids’ Parents as Teachers is able to welcome families with young children to learn and do what kids love most, play.

Vonee Hill, the Executive Director of KK PAT, introduced the brand new Parents as Teachers program to Philadelphia in September and has already seen great success among the families using the program.

What makes KK PAT so unique is that it is a preventative program aiming to assist families in making the family environment a safe and healthy one. This is made possible by the KK PAT core values, identified by the acronym HEART. The values of humility, empathy, accountability, respect, truth, and support work in tandem to create the support system that enables families to build stronger bonds and learn key skills to utilize in the household.

Some of those skills will be incorporated into KK PAT’s Family Book Drive in January. In honor of Martin Luther King Day, families are welcome to come read with their kids at the KK PAT facility on Tuesday, January 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. As book sharing is a key component of the Parents as Teachers program, book donations from community members and families are welcome prior to and during the event. Families can RSVP to the “Martin Luther King Day of Service Family Book Drive” until January 7 or until they reach capacity.

Then on Wednesday, January 25, KK PAT will be hosting “It’s More Than Just a Family Game Night,” an event to teach the importance of parent-child interaction. From 4-7 p.m., families can enjoy time together while playing various board games and learning how to effectively communicate and interact with one another. Families can RSVP to “It’s More Than Just a Family Game Night” until January 13 or until they reach capacity.
