PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Department of Public Health today announced 1,158 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 novel coronavirus in Philadelphia. That brings the number of confirmed cases to 52,043. In addition, the Department of Public Health also announced 52 new probable cases from rapid antigen tests.
The Department of Public Health confirmed 5 additional fatalities in Philadelphia. This brings the number of residents who have succumbed to the virus in Philadelphia to 1,909. Of the 1,909 total deaths, 918 (48%) were long-term care facility residents.
COVID Restrictions: As Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley has indicated repeatedly in recent weeks, the City has actively discussed instituting new restrictions to help stop the spread of COVID-19. The Department of Public Health is using data gleaned from investigations of positive cases to ensure that any restrictions implemented can address a specific route of spread. At this time, specific details are still being finalized, but we anticipate holding a press conference to announce changes in restrictions next Monday, November 16 at 1 p.m. The Mayor’s Communications Office will issue an advisory with details on Monday morning.
